Ultrasonic Testing: (ISI) Corrosion Mapping & Thickness Measurement Level 3

Why attend this course?

In accordance with PCN ISI GEN Appendix A, this programme is designed to train inspection engineers, working in asset management and dealing with corrosion and erosion issues. Suitable for all plant engineers and inspectors, across multiple industries with relevant experience. A high level of theory including procedure writing is offered within this course in preparation for PCN Level 3 examinations.


  • Assessment of corrosion and erosion mechanisms in piping systems
  • Corrosion and erosion in plate, pipe and variables such as elbows, flanges, reducers etc.
  • Assessment and identification of corrosion by echo-dynamic patterns and other NDT methods
  • Accurate measurement of remaining wall thickness
  • Understanding isometric drawings and related component symbols
  • Understanding the effect of coatings on measurements
  • A general view of coatings and understanding their purpose
  • Understanding the purpose and different destructive testing methods
  • An in-depth understanding of product technology including casting, forging, welding and heat treatment
  • Safety considerations
  • A look at the various material types that may be encountered
  • Procedure writing
