Ultrasonic Testing: (ISI) Corrosion Mapping & Thickness Measurement Level 1

Why attend this course?

In accordance with PCN ISI GEN Appendix A, this programme is designed to train technicians, working in asset management and dealing with corrosion and erosion issues, to measure the competency of personnel working in these areas on plant assets. Suitable for all plant engineers and inspectors, across multiple industries. A high level of theory and practical content is offered within this course in preparation for PCN Level 1 examinations.

Content

  • Assessment of corrosion and erosion mechanisms in piping systems
  • Corrosion and erosion in plate, pipe and variables such as elbows, flanges, reducers etc.
  • Assessment and identification of corrosion by echo-dynamic patterns and other NDT methods
  • Accurate measurement of remaining wall thickness
  • Understanding isometric drawings and related component symbols
  • Understanding the effect of coatings on measurements
  • A general view of coatings and understanding their purpose
  • Understanding the purpose and different destructive testing methods
  • An understanding of product technology including casting, forging, welding and heat treatment
  • Safety considerations
  • Application of a written instruction

A look at the various material types that may be encountered

Duration: Depending on experience

Code: IETS/UTCM1

Special Note: Candidates wishing to become certificated under the PCN scheme must meet the requirements of the relevant PCN/GEN Appendix
